Health and Safety Policy
1.2 Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to set out how the Kurdistan Technical Institute fulfils its legal and moral obligations in relation to the health, safety, and welfare of staff, students, and any other persons who may be affected by its activities.
1.2 Objectives
The objectives of this policy are to:

Ensure that all staff, students, and others are aware of the Institute’s legal and moral obligations regarding health and safety.

Outline how the Institute will discharge its responsibilities to provide, so far as is reasonably practicable, a safe and healthy environment for work and study.

Ensure that staff, students, and others understand their own responsibilities for safeguarding their health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their actions or omissions.
2. Policy Statement
As the governing body of the Kurdistan Technical Institute, the Institute Council accepts its legal and moral responsibility for the health, safety, and welfare of staff, students, and others affected by the Institute’s activities. To discharge this responsibility, the Council provides leadership and support to sustain the importance of health, safety, and welfare as part of the Institute’s program of effective governance and risk control.
The Institute is committed to following best practice in relation to corporate governance and risk control and seeks to implement relevant national legislation, international standards, and sector guidance appropriate to higher and technical education.
The Institute Council has adopted this policy to promote excellence in the health and safety performance of teaching, research, training, and associated activities. The Institute will work proactively to achieve compliance with all applicable health and safety legal requirements and is committed to continual improvement in the health, safety, and welfare of staff, students, and others affected by its undertakings.
Through clear delegation of duties, the Council will take all reasonable steps to ensure that staff, students, and others under its authority are competent and accept their health and safety responsibilities. The Council requires all members of the Institute community to co-operate in achieving a high standard of health and safety performance and will recognize and encourage contributions towards this goal.
The Institute Council will ensure that it is regularly informed about health and safety risk management issues, and that overall health and safety performance is subject to review and audit. Progress will be monitored against key performance indicators, and this policy will be reviewed annually by health and safety directorate
